The Geology of Marden Quarry

Picture of th Limestone in the QuarryMarden Quarry is the remains of a worked out Limestone Quarry. The quarried rock was Magnesian Limestone, a relatively rare mineral which was formerly exposed at the surface. Parts of the out crop can still be seen along with rocks formed during other geological periods. To get a complete view of the geology of the quarry however it is necessary to look along the coast where the layers of rock have been exposed by the sea.More about Geology
